Jelena Kunovac, M.D., M.S.

Jelena is Co-Founder, President and CEO of Excell Research and Southern California Women’s Psychiatry; and Founder, Chief Executive and Chief Medical Officer of Altea Research Institute, a private facility dedicated to clinical care and psychopharmacology research in Las Vegas, Nevada. She brings to Altea Research and Excell Research over 20 years of clinical trial experience.

Dr. Kunovac has participated in over 300 clinical trials in the CNS area, mostly as a Principal Investigator. She conducts Phase II to IV studies, focusing on schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety disorders.

Dr. Kunovac has authored and co-authored over 30 scientific journal articles in peer reviewed journals and has published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, the British Journal of Psychiatry, the American Journal of Psychiatry, the Journal of Affective Disorders and the Psychiatric Clinics of North America. She is a member of the Journal Innovations in Psychiatry’s editorial board. Recently, she has been appointed to the Scientific Committee of Nevada Psychiatric Association.

Sherry Soefje, M.D.

Sherry is Co-Founder, Chief Financial Officer and Medical Director of Excell Research and a Clinical Supervisor for the Psychiatry Residency Program at University of California, San Diego. She bring to Excell Research close to 20 years of clinical trial experience.

Dr. Soefje has participated in over 200 clinical trials in the CNS area, and assumed the role as Principal Investigator for a majority of those trials since 2012. She conducts Phase II to IV studies, focusing on schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety disorders.

Over the past 25 years Dr. Soefje has dedicated her time and efforts to helping people and families affected by mental illnesses.

Ashley Snyder, Psy. D.

Dr. Snyder is the Associate Medical Director for Excell Research.  She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Addictive Disorders from National University.  She received her Psy. D in Clinical Forensic Psychology from Alliant International University.

Dr. Snyder has participated in CNS related clinical trials as a clinician for the past 7 years. She has worked in forensic facilities, outpatient and inpatient hospital settings.  Dr. Snyder has experience working with substance dependence issues, trauma victims, incarcerated populations, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Snyder also serves as adjunct faculty at two local Universities.   Dr. Snyder has presented research at local and international conferences. In the past, Dr. Snyder was elected and served as co-chair for the California Coalition on Sexual Offending Central Coastal Chapter (CCOSO).
